What type of wood is that?

I have to ask, what’s the point in advertising this as a burnt log when you are just going to cut it all the way into a normal log?? I would much rather see some of the charring from the burned log incorporated in the wood churning in my humble opinion

Every time these Woodturners get a blackened chard piece of wood. They then proceeded to remove all the charring so what’s the point in using Chad Wood yes? I know that the results look great but maybe if you incorporated some of that blackened wood then it would make the overall finish a lot more interesting. Failing that maybe just turn a normal log because that’s what they look like in the end in my humble opinion of course.

If I had only thought to film some of the insane poop I have turned. Get an off lathe jig to make the rounding cuts. I got a band saw eventually. bottom line, as long as it stays between centers

Oh look, one of those ‘ unexpected Discovery’ videos again!! so what’s unexpected about this part from the fact that you’ve taken all the charring off and turned it into a vase it would be nice to one-day see somebody actually retain some of the charring because it’s part of the wood now and actually do something with it in my humble opinion:-)

That is very artistic and very skilful, but I would like to see someone that’s when they advertise wood turning a burnt or charred piece of wood that they retain some of that charring because if not, you’re just turning a piece of wood that has no history to it.
